Beefy Macaroni Cheese

This Beef & Macaroni Casserole is easy to put together and it boasts big flavour! Crafted Meats Beefy Mac and Cheese is an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will love. This homemade macaroni and cheese is loaded with lean minced beef, bacon and green pepper.

    Method

    • 1.Cook the macaroni in a large saucepan of boiling salted water for 8-10 minutes; drain well and set aside.
    • 2.Melt the butter over a medium heat in a large saucepan. Add the plain flour and stir to form a roux, cooking for a few minutes.
    • 3.Gradually whisk in the milk, a little at a time.
    • 4.Stir in the mustard powder and a pinch of grated nutmeg, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
    • 5.Meanwhile, gently fry the chopped pepper and onion, and Diced Smoked Streaky Bacon in the sunflower oil until the onion is soft and the bacon is browned.
    • 6.Increase the heat, add the Minced Steak and fry until browned. Set aside.
    • 7.Preheat the oven to 180ºC/ Fan 160ºC/ Gas 4.
    • 8.Remove the white sauce from the hob, add 200g grated cheddar and stir until the cheese is melted.
    • 9.Add the macaroni to the sauce and mix well, then add the mince mixture and stir again.
    • 10.Transfer to a deep, suitably-sized ovenproof dish and sprinkle over a further 100g grated cheddar and the parmesan.
    • 11.Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is brown and bubbling.

    • 250g macaroni
    • 40g butter
    • 40g plain flour
    • 600ml milk
    • ½ tsp mustard powder
    • A pinch of grated nutmeg
    • 1 onion, diced
    • 150g Diced Smoked Streaky Bacon
    • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
    • 440g Minced Steak
    • 300g grated cheddar
    • 50g grated parmesan
    • 1 Green Pepper
